In den meisten Fällen handelt es sich um Pflichtpraktika, allerdings gibt es auch viele freiwillige Praktikanten, welche Erfahrungen im jeweiligen Arbeitsfeld sammeln möchten. Ein Praktikum ist heutzutage in nahezu allen Arbeitsbereichen möglich. Der wesentliche Vorteil eines Praktikums im Vergleich zum normalen „400 Euro Job“ liegt sicher in der Praxiserfahrung und ein Praktikum in einem angesehenen Unternehmen poliert auch jeden Lebenslauf auf. Man bekommt bei einem 400 Euro Job sicher nicht ansatzweise so viel Verantwortung, bzw. wirklich anspruchsvolle Aufgaben zugeteilt. Zumeist sortiert man im Supermarkt Waren ein oder zieht Artikel über den Kassenscanner, reißt Eintrittskarten ab oder fährt Pizza aus. Dies ist bei einem Praktikum anders. Sollte es zumindest sein. Die Intention eines Praktikums liegt im Sammeln von Arbeitserfahrung unter professioneller Anleitung der Kollegen und Vorgesetzten und stellt sozusagen eine Orientierungshilfe für die spätere Berufswahl dar. Oftmals wird diese Zielstellung allerdings von den Arbeitgebern außer Acht gelassen und die Praktikanten werden als billige „normale“ Arbeitskräfte beschäftigt. Denn heutzutage werden (leider) nur wenige Praktika angemessen, wenn überhaupt vergütet. Oftmals kommt es auch vor, dass die sogenannten „Praktikanten“ für völlig andere Aufgaben, als in der Annonce ausgeschrieben, „missbraucht“ werden. Dies ist ein Negativtrend, der leidergottes immer populärer wird. Hier heißt es als Praktikant: Vorsicht! Wenn ihre Aufgaben in völlig anderen (unangenehmen, stupiden) Bereichen liegen als ihre Stelle ausgeschrieben war, sollten Sie ihren Arbeitgeber daran erinnern, dass sie sich aus Interesse als Praktikant in einem bestimmten Arbeitsfeld beworben haben, um eben in dieser Richtung Erfahrung zu sammeln. Wenn ihr aktueller „Job“ nun aber aus Kaffee kochen und kopieren besteht, liegt es an ihnen, das zu ändern. Lassen sie sich nicht unter Wert verkaufen und sprechen sie offen über ihre Unzufriedenheit. Dies ist der einzige Weg zu einem soliden, interessanten Praktikum.
